Double Down SandwichPreparation time: 30 mins. (approx.) | Serves 2 sandwiches

This Double Down Chicken Recipe is inspired by the famous KFC sandwich. This sandwich is unique in the sense that there is no bread and the sandwich is made with crispy fried chicken breasts. The other main ingredient of the recipe is its special sauce, which enhances the flavor of this sandwich.

Ingredients:

1 large boneless chicken breast (cut into 4 equal slices)
1 ½ cup yogurt
½ cup water
Salt to taste
1 egg
Oil for deep frying
4 smoked chicken strips
2 cheddar cheese slices

For Seasoned Flour:

1 ½ cup flour
1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
½ tsp salt
½ tsp dried basil leaves
1 tsp ground chili
1 tbsp ground paprika
1 tsp garlic powder
½ tsp dried sage
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp onion powder

For Sauce:

1/3 cup mayonnaise
1 tsp Dijon mustard
1 tsp garlic paste
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp ketchup
1 tsp white vinegar
1 tsp chili sauce
Few drops of Tabasco

Procedure:

1. In a mixing bowl whisk together yogurt, water, salt, and egg until becomes smooth.
2. Sift together all the ingredients mentioned for making seasoned flour and keep it on the platter.
3. To make the sauce, whisk together all the sauce ingredients and keep it in the fridge for 10-15 mins.
4. Heat oil for deep frying at medium heat. Meanwhile, coat the chicken slices with the flour mixture and then dip them in the yogurt batter. Coat again with the flour mixture and dust extra flour from the chicken. If you want a thick crust then you need to repeat the procedure 2-3 times.
5. Now fry the coated chicken pieces in oil at medium heat for 4-6 mins, or until become crispy golden brown from both sides.
6. When chicken is frying, cook smoked chicken strips on the griddle or skillet just to make it crispy brown.
7. To make a double down sandwich, place a crispy chicken piece onto the butter paper, spread 1-2 tbsp of prepared sauce on it, place 2 smoked chicken strips, then put a cheese slice, drizzle some mayo sauce, and in the end covered with other fried chicken piece.
8. Wrap the sandwich with butter paper and serve immediately.
