Preparation time : 30 min |Serves 4-6 persons
This honey bbq wings recipe was inspired by the original copycat KFC honey bbq wings. Now you can make this delicious fast food recipe at home, the main step is to prepare the sauce which can be used in the same way in other fried chicken recipes.
Ingredients:
2 cup bbq sauce
3/4 cup honey
1 cup all purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
2 tsp chicken powder
20 chicken wings
Oil for deep frying
Procedure:
1. Mix dry ingredients in a mixing bowl including flour, salt, chicken powder and black pepper.
2. Dust each piece of chicken wings with the dry mixture.
3. Heat oil in deep fryer to appropriate temperature as mentioned on the fryer.
4. Meanwhile prepare honey sauce for the wings, for that heat honey and bbq sauce together in a sauce pan and cook for just 3-5 min until honey mixes well in the sauce.
5. Now fry chicken wings in the deep fryer for 5-8 min or until chicken would become done.
6. When chicken is done coat the wings with prepared honey bbq sauce and served with Cole slaw and fries.

Hubby loves KFC Honey-BBQ wings & I would love to give him this recipe to try, but what the heck is “chicken powder”?
Don’t know if this is something I use, but call by another name or if it’s something we might not have here in the Texas panhandle.
Thanks
Sami
I just found out its made by Knorr…Chicken Powder
What part in the store did you find it? I have not found it yet here
Right what is ckn powder?
I have a cook’s feeling that “Chicken Powder” should read “Garlic Powder”, or “Onion Powder”. I will probably use a tsp of each and see how that works. Unfortunately, they also did not specify what type of BBQ sauce. Maybe hickory, or mesquite, thick or not, also, there are honey bbq sauces on the market. Not sure this is a good recipe.
Chicken powder is an alternative for chicken bouillon or chicken cube, its entirely different from garlic powder or onion powder they all have different flavor. As far as bbq sauce is concerned you can use any bbq sauce that is easily available to you because there is not much difference in taste of these bbq sauces. Hope your confusion will be clear through this reply, try the recipe hopefully you will find it wonderful!
Chicken Powder is simply Boullion cubes grated, Wylers, Knorr or Herb Ox are just fine, and as far as the sauce, mix 2 cups “Sweet Baby Rays” with 3/4 cup of honey,Heat it and keep it warm, you will be delighted
“Chicken powder is an alternative for chicken bouillon or chicken cube”. That’s what I though it was!
chicken powder (ie: chicken bouillon), ok, but still, add that and salt together? seems to me like it would make them a bit too salty.
also, in the picture, are you making “boneless” honey BBQ chicken wings using slices of boneless chicken breasts?
Yeah! I tried it with boneless chicken and as far as salty taste is concerned chicken bouillon has much salty flavor so you can avoid axtra bit of salt and make it according to your taste.
I’m thinking poultry seasoning for chicken powder.
Where can I buy chicken powder? I have a family member on a salt-free diet and would like to know where I can purchase it. Is it available at any supermarket, ethnic store, health food store or online? My on-line searches have all had responses for chicken bouillon.
Chicken powder, Asian grocery stores or ethnic food aisles in bigger stores. Pretty much like chicken bullion. This recipe seems like a little too much work. Just try Cattleman’s Honey BBQ sauce. Cook breaded boneless wings, sauce in a sealable container (coat to personal preference) and shake it up!
Why waste the time, just buy Cattleman’s Honey BBQ sauce.
I googled chicken powder and it explains it and also shows pictures of packages of it !
Chicken Powder = Knorr Brand
knorr chicken powder ingredients
Salt, Maltodextrin, Flavour enhancer (E621, E635), Cornstarch, Sugar, Chicken Meat And Fat, Permitted flavouring (contains Egg, Soy), Soy sauce (contains Wheat), Palm fat and Spice.
I wish I could find a BBQ that tastes like theirs. I’ve tried several brands and none are close. Kraft, Sweet Baby Ray’s, Cookies, Masterpiece… Any suggestions?
