This pomfret recipe is prepared by grilling method which you can also make it by baking for your convenience. This recipe is prepared in typical South Asian style with little bit spicy flavor but you can make it according to your taste by adjusting the spice level.
Ingredients:
2 large size Pomfret fish (cleaned properly and make cuts on both sides)
Salt to taste
2 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp ginger powder
2 tsp garlic powder
¾ cup yogurt (drained)
2 tsp green chili paste
1 egg
½ tsp carom seeds
2 tbsp gram flour
½ tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp garam masala
2 tbsp butter
Procedure:
1. Marinate pomfrets with salt and lemon juice and leave for 15 mins.
2. In a mixing bowl combine ginger & garlic powder, yogurt, egg, carom seeds, gram flour, turmeric, chili paste and garam masala.
3. Rub this mixture onto the pomfrets and then place them onto the griller or greased grill pan and cook for 8-10 mins. for one side then turn around and cook for another 5 mins. till gets brown from both sides. It is better if you leave fish with marination for some times to abosirb the flavors.
Note: If you are using grill pan then, grease it first with butter then cook the fish while if you are using typical griller then apply butter while grilling to make brown shiny crust.
4. Serve the delicious grilled pomfrets with fries, ketchup or chutney.
